Goodbye to Sandra Dee

Look over there...

After Charlie is starting over. It needs to, for it is a ragamuffin of a book. Disjointed, unrealistic, gag-me-with-a-fork-cheesy. I can admit when I've made a colossal error in judgement. It was trying to be A STORY. Now I see that it just needs to be a story. Simple. I always think way too big, overshoot and land in middle of nowhere. I need to think small, nudge it just enough scoot a little ways in front of me, but close enough so I can still reach it. And I'm flushing the out-of-touch, fanciful storytelling. Life isn't cherry blossoms and a perfect apple pie. Life sucks. But sometimes there's chocolate and people who make you laugh so hard you pee your pants a little bit. Isn't that far more interesting?

I am so sorry.
I know how it feels to hit delete on that much work.
But I also know that the new edition will come with more ease, like you've greased it up with ky.

I think we are in parallel universes. I too just deleted much of my WIP cuz it sucked. Disjointed, and not fun. I had all intention to correct it, but instead, I've put it aside to perculate and I've started something fun and hairy with sharp teeth.

Be well my java chugging friend.

Yeah, that hurts. Any chance you could just write to the end and then iron it flat?

When I talk about my ten books, I'm not counting the two that are almost entirely written, but snapped off at the climax. I experienced a similar realization about each of these books, and rather than fixing them, I moved on to other projects, leaving a pair of broken bleeding nubs sticking out in my wake.

Objectively, I feel like this was lazy and stupid.

Do what you gotta do, heels-lady.

Strangely enough, it actually feels good to scrap the whole thing and start over. It was seriously broken; limbs hanging and everything. It's really the best thing for it. Now I KNOW how it should be written. I just need to sit down and get it out (whenever the boy decides to take a nap, that is. Still jealous of your babysitter, Elizabeth! *grumble*)

And might I add that you need to share your WIP's with your sissy in order to get out of your own head and hear a fresh perspective!

Ummm...that's what Vegas is for. What else do you think I'm gonna yammer on about in between sips of Mojito whilst basking by the Bellagio pool?

I worked HARD to get that babysitter. We have a neighbourhood newspaper that I placed an ad in and then interviewed five girls. I love the one I have and it is well worth having her.
I feel normal again.
