I would just like to take this opportunity to announce that I am still a huge Firefly geek, the geekiness being roused last night with the Sci-Fi channel's airing of Serenity. And as with all viewings of anything Firefly related, I feel a bubbling sense of rage that people will sit and watch wadded, festering piles of crap like Heroes, while a brilliant, intelligent, well written show like Firefly gets canned. Me no get it. And I also hate the fact that Nathan Fillion hasn't had a decent job since that show. In fact, no one but Summer Glau seemed to bounce back. And I love Joss Whedon with all my heart, but he went and killed off Wash and Shepherd in the movie, so even if all us fans threw in twenty bucks to bring the show back, it wouldn't be the same.
Okay, sorry, enough of the geekiness. On to writing...
If all goes well, and nothing catastrophic happens, like my head falling off or the planet colliding with the sun, I will be finished with my book by the end of the month. Possibly before. I'm at the point where I can sort of, kind of, almost catch a glimmer of the finish line in the headlights. That's much better than seeing nothing but roadblocks and giant, hairy, soul-eating yetis.

Ooohhhh....Firefly. Had I known it was on last night, I would have watched it instead of Wanted.
I rarely watch television because it is a well-known fact that any television show I watch (and enjoy) will get canceled.
Firefly
Buffy
Journeyman
Arrested Development.
Just to name a few.
Okay, now I'm going to watch some Firefly...
Mmm.... what's FireFly? Should I be Googling this?
I have a Firefly theory and it goes along the lines that all interesting, smart, creative, funny people love Firefly. Everyone else just sucks (except you Sarah, b/c I know you're going to run right out and rent it). Check out my friend Stephanie's blog www.naturalartificial.blogpsot.com. She bought a replica of Jayne's knit hat as a Christmas tree ornament this year!
Congrats on seeing the finish line!!!
Bryan - Ugh, let us not speak of Arrested Development, lest I will crawl into the closet and blubber like an infant. Possibly one of the best shows ever in the history time. (and, yes, go watch some Firefly!)
Sarah - stop what you're doing, go to your Netflix queue and add it. No questions. Just go.
Elise - I am all over your theory. It is spot on. And I will check out that blog...OMG, Jayne's knit hat as an ornament? That's awesome and genius!
I was going to make some kind of stirring and witty comment, but I was distracted by the soul-eating yetis and have completely forgotten it. :)
I hate yetis in the road when I'm trying to finish a book. They're so growl-ey and monster-ey and they get snow all over my computer.
May the rest of your draft be utterly free of yetis.
Firefly died because people are dumb. It's not a complex theory, but an accurate one. If only the rest of the TV audience were as sharp and witty as us, then shows like Firefly would have long, happy lives.
Although that also might mean we wouldn't get to watch Rock of Love.
Following Sarah to Netflix ...
By the way, congrats on having the finish line in site. And not all yetis are bad. The Vancouver Olympics mascot yeti is really kinda cute.
GAH! I had no idea you were a Firefly nut too. LOVED that show. LOVED it. Love the movie. In fact I own it and now must go watch it again.
