Something wicked this way comes...

Daily Stats:
Words: many
Caffeine: morning cup + mid-morning cappuccino
Evil Calories: Going out to dinner tonight. Will have super meaty steak and a vat of Guinness. Will feel like tranquilized bear tomorrow.
Reality TV: DVR'd Tim Gunn's Guide to Style

Creepy. This photo was taken by my hubby. It's a tree in a graveyard just up the street from our house. Could there possibly be a better graveyard tree? It's all gnarled and twisted...plus the graveyard is like a gazillion years old, which ups the creep factor. And...while he was there, he said the temperature felt about 10 degrees colder right in front of the tree. AHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Speaking of AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! ...with Halloween just around the corner, I though I would share a list of my top 10 favorite Halloween flicks that I must enjoy at least once during the holiday, or the rest of my year is all wonky.

1. The Omen (the original, mind you)
2. Rocky Horror Picture Show
3. Night of the Living Dead (they're coming to get you, Barbara....ah, love it, love it, love it!!!!)
4. Nightmare before Christmas
5. The original Disney Legend of Sleepy Hollow. (Shut up, it's freaky as hell! When Ichabod Crane is riding home from the party through the graveyard. It's totally creepy! You know, Disney used to make scary stuff. When we were little, we had the Disney Halloween sounds album. OMG, the haunted house one still gives me chills.)
6. Beetlejuice
7. Dawn of the Dead - the 2004 remake (the end of this movie is one of the best I've ever seen in any zombie/undead flick ever!)
8. American Werewolf in London
9. Evil Dead II
10. The Addiction (This is the best vampire flick ever! It's intelligent and awesomely bloody.)

And the following are the movies that I CANNOT watch:

1. The Shining
2. The Exorcist
3. The Thing

I'm sorry, I just can't. I sometimes make it to the "hot chick in bathtub" scene in The Shining, but I usually burrow into my couch after that. And don't even get me started on The Exorcist. Nope. Nope. Nope.

What are your favorite Halloween movies?

Way cool photo! I think I'll use it for my desktop for the next couple weeks.

I've been stacking Halloween movies on Netflix. I love scary movies in October! (I just have to watch them during the day so I don't freak myself out!)

Okay, my faves are....

1. Halloween - the best scary movie ever in my book
2. The Craft - I know, kinda lame, but I still like it
3. Dracula - the 70's version; yes, it has cheesey 70's graphics, but Frank Langella was HOT HOT HOT then
4. The Shining - yes, it scares the CRAP out of me, but scary movies are my crack; I just can't help myself and then I regret it for a week
5. Near Dark - Hey, these vamps were hip in the 80's!
6. Poltergeist - I really can't watch this one since it scared me so bad, but it is a classic
7. The Ring - yes, it gave me cardiac arrest, but it's on TV tonight, and I know I'll watch it
8. The Omen - the original, of course; so creepy, and Gregory Peck is amazing
9. Dawn of the Dead - the remake from a couple years ago; it's funny and stops your heart
10. Shawn of the Dead - this should follow all scary movie viewings since it's hilarious and brilliant

Like you, I can't watch anything remotely related to demonic possession! (must be in the DNA) No way on The Exorcist ever again. Same goes for Amityville Horror. And I will never, EVER see The Exorcism of Emily Rose. NEVAH.

Thirteen Ghosts and The Sixth Sense. Malevolent spirits freak me out more than anything.

Awesome creepy pic!
I'm not really into super creepy movies, so my Halloween favs are:
Beetlejuice, The Sixth Sense, Nightmare Before Christmas, Blair Witch Project (my one unnerving pick) and Sleepy Hollow (the Tim Burton version). And a cool note to add ... apparently one of my ancestors (first on my paternal side of the family tree to settle in North America) is buried in the Sleepy Hollow cemetery.

p.s. I'm tempted to Nano with you, but I know I would have to plot the hell out of things before even attempting it & I'm not sure if my procrastinating ways will allow for it.

I don't watch too many horrors. But if they are Evil Satan spirit oriented, then I for SURE can't watch them. They freak me out too much!
However, I love to watch Most Haunted and Paranorma State, so go figure.
Zombie movies I can do, Vampire maybe, Cloverfeld was awesome too.
So you want to talk more about living on/near a graveyard?

Good lick with the stoned bear feelings tomorrow. It made me laugh.

I have not forgotten about the NaNo and I have checked out their web page and it says there clearly they want you to start with a new story, not one you're already working on. So this has given me pause because I think I'm commited now to finishing my memoir.

But very cool to see how many GREAT books have been published from this!

Love that pic!

I adore the Disney Sleepy Hollow too. The first time I saw it was at a campsite; they set up a screen in the middle of the woods, and it was UBER spooky. And we watch Nightmare Before Christmas every Halloween at my house. And Christmas, actually. :)
